pictureWhat results can I expect?

Jumpstart Medicine's program encourages rapid weight loss, usually averaging 2 to 5 pounds per week. Most patients feel great, have no cravings, and stay highly motivated due to quick results which they can see and feel. Your results will depend on many factors, including your starting weight, other medical conditions, and individual program design.

pictureHow will I achieve these results?

We offer a comprehensive medical program which includes an initial evaluation, body composition analysis, lab tests, EKG, and, when indicated, FDA-approved prescription medication. We implement a low-calorie nutritional program and a moderate exercise plan.

pictureHow do I know if this program is right for me?

When we see you , we will measure your weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, and waist circumference. Taking these and other factors into consideration, we will recommend a program aligned with your needs and goals. The majority of our patients are looking to lose 10 to 100 pounds in order to reach their ideal body weight. For these patients, a physician-supervised weight loss program may be the safest and wisest way to lose weight.

pictureCan you tell me more about the medication?

Some of our patients do not take medication while many of our patients do opt for medication. The medications we use are FDA-approved and have been on the market for 30 to 50 years depending on which medication you are given. They have very strong safety profiles and we tailor dosages for each patient's needs. We find that the most common side effects are dry mouth and insomnia that usually goes away after the initial 2 to 3 days.

pictureDoes the program offer other benefits besides weight loss?

The many potential health benefits include lower blood pressure, lower blood-sugar levels in people with diabetes, lower serum cholesterol, reduced risk of stroke and heart attack, improvement in arthritis symptoms, reduced risk of certain forms of cancer, and more. Weight loss can reduce or eliminate the need for daily and lifelong medications related to these conditions.

pictureHow long will I stay on the program?

Your individual needs may vary, but most patients follow the acute weight-loss phase for 8 to 24 weeks. After they reach their goal weight, patients are transitioned to a maintenance phase during which they learn how to improve their eating habits while living a healthier lifestyle.

pictureWill my insurance cover the costs?

We do not currently accept insurance cards for payment of our services. We do require payment up front for our services with credit card or check. If any patient would like to file a claim with their insurance company, we would be happy to provide documentation of their visit and services provided but we do not work directly with any of the insurance companies at this time.

"...I am very pleased with my weight loss and the fact that I have kept 15 pounds off. As I get older I find it harder to lose weight and keep focused. I am now going to a Gym and that has been a great motivator, too. The staff at Jumpstart is knowledgeable, very professional and encouraging. I am so grateful to belong to Jumpstart. Thank you."
